Miss Venezuela, Stefania Fernandez has been crowned as Miss Universe 2009. Gona Dragusha from Kosovo was 2nd runners up and Rachael Finch from Australia became the third runner up.

India’s Ekta Chowdhry failed to qualify for the 15 finalists short listed for the Miss Universe 2009 in Bahamas.

During the two-hour show a panel of 12 renowned judges selected Stefania Fernandez from the 84 contestants. They were judged on their grace, intelligence and good posture.

Venezuelan beauty Dayana Mendoza, Miss Universe 2008, crowned her successor at the conclusion of the event.

The Miss Universe 2009 Contestants will be narrowed down, and the final choice will be made at 11 PM ET. Unlike shows like the Emmys, this event does not run over, so you can expect it to happen at that time.
